KALE

Darkibor

65 days
This new variety is very similar to Winterbor, but the leaves are more green (less blue-green), and while curly, they aren’t quite as wrinkled and crinkled. Great variety for kale chips. Withstands freezes well in the fall so you can harvest as late as possible.

NEW KALE

Dazzling Blue

30 days baby, 60 days mature

What fun! Vigorous 24–34" upright savoyed toscano-leaved kale in a range of bluish-green shades and all with a dramatic pink mid-rib. Perfect for raw kale salad. Good flavor and selected for cold hardiness, the color intensifies in cool weather.

KALE FAVE

Dwarf Blue Scotch

55 days
This variety is not exactly a “dwarf”, but it doesn’t grow as tall as other kales, so it is a good variety to grow in large containers. This is an heirloom variety with great texture and sweet flavor. My favorite for freezing for winter. Very cold hardy outside—can take a pretty hard freeze.

KALE

Red Russian

Very tender grey-green leaves with purple veins and stems. Leaves are flat, non-curled, and tooth-edged. Great for salads and light cooking.

KALE

Redbor

55 days
Deep red-purple frilly leaves. Redness and frilliness increase with cold weather and short days in the fall. Not as productive as green kale and a bit less tender but full of colorful antioxidants. This is the tallest of the kales and it looks beautiful in a flower bed!

Scarlet

55 days
This variety is similar to Redbor in plant size, leaf shape and color, but it is open pollinated instead of a hybrid.

KALE FAVE

Toscano

65 days
Also called Lacinato or “dinosaur” kale (because the wrinkled leaves look like dinosaur skin). The extra-dark green, non-curled, but heavily blistered (savoyed) leaves are very tender. My best seller and a great one for flavor but not as productive as curly green kales.

KALE FAVE

White Russian

60 days
A flat leaf type similar to Red Russian but with silvery green leaves with white veining. Also a few inches taller, more productive, and hardier. You will get more leaves from this kale, from early summer until early (or mid) winter, than any other variety. Very tender and sweet. My favorite variety!

KALE FAVE

Winterbor

60 days
These plants grow 2-3 feet tall and have huge yields of well curled, blue-green, ruffled leaves. More cold hardy than many varieties and can take frost well. My favorite for kale chips! If you are a juicer, this is the kale to buy.
